the beach in winter is beautiful

the beach in winter is beautiful.  the air is cold and it bites into your skin and stings your cheeks.  the clouds make strange shapes that make the sun emit a warm glow.  shadows play on the waves while the surfers bob up and down, lost in sea and foam.  and all the while dogs sit and wait, ears pricked to the lightest sound of their owners returning.

a girl and a dog

i’m the girl on the beach that sits and daydreams while watching the surfers in the water.  i should probably learn how to surf myself, but at the moment i’m pretty happy with my camera in hand, watching the world go by.

these photographs were taken at a beach somewhere near gracetown.  i was sitting on the sand when a black dog ran up to me and decided it was going to keep me company for a while.  when the dog saw a person coming out the water, it would race down the beach to see who is was.  after that it would trot back to me and look at me with weary eyes as if to say, ‘well, where is he?’  the dog was worried about its owner, out there in the surf. 

i’m glad someone knows what it’s like =)

coasting

some of my last days down south were spent travelling along the coast in search of the perfect waves, sunny skies, blue water and a little adventure. i love that nearly every beach along this wondrous coastline is different to the next. i wonder if you can guess which beach is which? :)

a day at the farm

we went to the country life farm, just past dunsborough, to celebrate caden's second birthday. it was a lot of fun (for both kids and adults!) looking at all the aniamsl and feeding them copious amounts of carrots :) judging by caden's exclamations of 'whoa' and 'ooh man', i think he had a good time :)

kyle

kyle is a pretty cool kid. he just turned eleven, so i thought i would take a few pictures to mark the occasion. we are blessed to have your sunny (and sometimes silly) self in our lives kyle – wishing you many more :)

smile on my dial

being a little bit busy for the next couple months means that i won't be able to blog as much. i've pulled a few from the archives - these are some of the things that put a smile on my dial. my morning cup of tea! baking! (and taking pictures of the baking) friendly dogs! and logs of wood! i hope you are having a pleasant winter (or summer) and i will hopefully have more to show you when i shoot..wait for it..a wedding!

miss sew and sew

i made a dress!  after weeks of deliberation, i finally bought myself a japanese dress book.  the dress turned out better than i expected, what with my limited sewing ability.  that, and the fact that all the instructions are written in japanese :)  with a little lots of help from my mum (she has extraordinary japanese diagram translating skills) i actually managed to turn a piece of material into something wearable.   i’m looking forward to making my next dress..or top..or jacket…..
