yellow

a little bit of pruning (or should i say hacking) occured in the backyard today. i felt sorry for the chinese lanterns that were sitting in a pile, hanging their yellow heads...so i picked a few and now they're brightening up my room with their cheery blossoms! white + yellow = happy love

techincal notes: taken inside on the bookshelf, hence the shadowing - hardly any pp, just increased the brightness a touch..very pleased with the results!

this is the inspiration

there are so many people the world over with so much talent..its phenomenal! ...i know i spend too many minutes here, but its worth it because it's pretty...right??

black + white

i recently got a roll of ilford 400 developed - i love this film - the textures, the grain, the depth. i was so pleasantly surprised when i opened the packet and first saw them - i think i'm in love with more than one of them! i hope you enjoy them as much as i enjoyed taking them :)

jungle boy

i took "bob" into mum's jungle garden one afternoon - i think he liked it, i hope you like it too :)

as it is

i clicked, and this is what happened - i love it when the photo turns out exactly how you wanted and imagined it. straight from the camera to the desk, no edits.

i remember...

...when this photo was taken. i think i was in grade nine, and taking pictures for a school project as part of my photography class. i remember chasing the twins around the house trying to get a photo of them, something they weren't that keen on doing [has anything changed? :)] i managed to snap this while he was hiding behind a plant pot - i love the cheeky little grin on his face!

we used old film cameras that we had to set manually and could only shoot in black and white. we then developed the films in all kinds of smelly chemicals in a pitch black darkroom. then it was into the enlarger, exposing photo paper to light. Dripping with (more) chemicals, we held our breath - "did i expose it enough? too much? is it in focus?" it was largely trial and error, but so rewarding to produce a photograph in which you had been a part of the entire process.

i guess the love for film and photos grew into a bigger love :) i wish i could go back and do it all again!! until the dream of having my own darkroom and lab turns into reality, it is nice to look back at the memories :)
